Is therapy right for me?

Seeking out therapy is an individual choice. There are many reasons why people choose to have therapy. Sometimes they want to deal with long-standing psychological issues, or problems with anxiety or depression. Other times it’s in response to unexpected life changes, such as a divorce or work transitions. Many seek the advice and counsel as they pursue personal exploration and growth. Working with a therapist can help provide insight, support, and new strategies for all types of life challenges. Therapy can help address many types of issues including depression, anxiety, body-image issues, conflict, grief, stress management and general life transitions. Therapy is right for anyone who is interested in getting more out of life by taking responsibility, creating

I can usually handle my problems. Do I really need therapy?

Everyone goes through challenging situations in life, and while you may have successfully navigated many difficulties you’ve faced, there’s nothing wrong with seeking out extra support when you need it. Having enough self-awareness to realize when you need a helping hand, is to be admired. By taking responsibility and accepting where you’re at in life, you’re making a commitment to change the situation by seeking therapy. Therapy provides long-lasting benefits and support, giving you the tools, you need to avoid triggers, re-direct damaging patterns, and overcome the challenges you face.

How do I know if I need therapy or coaching?

Therapy typically focuses on healing past wounds, processing emotions, and managing mental health symptoms. Coaching is often future-oriented and goal-driven—focused on alignment, clarity, and intentional decision-making. If you are dealing with unresolved trauma, anxiety, or relational pain, therapy may be the best starting point. If you are looking to elevate your mindset, define your purpose, or transition into a new chapter, coaching may be a better fit. I offer both, and we can determine together what will support you best.

Will talking about my issues really help?

Talking is just the beginning, not the end. In our work together, you will not just talk—you will notice patterns, challenge beliefs, and develop tools that help you move differently in your life. You may be surprised by how powerful it is to have your thoughts clarified, your emotions named, and your pain held in a space that is focused entirely on your healing.

What if I am not ready to open up fully?

That is completely okay, it is normal to have trepidations. Therapy moves at your pace. You are not required to share everything right away. Part of the work is learning what safety feels like—internally and relationally. I will meet you where you are, without pressure or judgment. It is your story, and you get to decide how and when it unfolds.
